Since 1988, by delegation of CNDA (the National Copyright Council), INPI (the Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office) is entitled to register Computer Programs (Software) and keep them in absolute confidence.

SoftwaresAccording to the specific legislation for Computer Programs, Software Law nº 9,609 dated February 19, 1998, article 1st, “The Computer Program is the expression of an organized set of instructions in natural and coded language, included in a physical support of any nature, which use is required by automatic machines for information treatment, devices, tools or peripheral devices, based on digital or analogous skills, to make them work for a given way and purpose.”

Registration is a legal form to guarantee the sole production, use and commercialization of the Computer Program to national entrepreneurs, thus becoming an economic material asset.
